17 yo son loves them; went with smaller size

My 17 yo son loves these shorts in surf spray color. He has a muscular/lean build, and we ordered small and medium, and he kept the small. The mediums were a bit too big in the waist and definitely too wide in the hips and thighs. I would say they have a roomy fit, and the online size chart measurements were accurate. He wears medium shorts in some other brands. Ordering another pair in coconut color. The fabric feels hefty, like they will last for years even through teenage outdoor adventures.
